MEET OUR TEAM

Tyler Sonnenberg - President
Tyler grew up around construction, earning his place on job sites alongside his father from a young age and developing a strong appreciation for craftsmanship and hard work. This early “sweat equity” helped support his studies at Georgian College, where he earned a diploma in Automotive Business Management.
After several years in the automotive industry in senior marketing and brand-focused roles, Tyler returned to the family business—drawn back to his first passion and the opportunity to help carry forward a family-owned legacy. With over 12 years in the construction industry, he has immersed himself in all aspects of the business.
Today, as President of Sonnarc Homes, Tyler combines hands-on building knowledge with strong business leadership to uphold the company’s core values: quality construction, trusted partnerships, and long-term value. Under his leadership, Sonnarc continues to build thoughtfully crafted homes rooted in family ownership, integrity, and enduring quality.

Martin Sonnenberg - Founder & Partner
With more than four decades in the construction industry, Martin Sonnenberg is a respected and familiar name throughout the Kitchener-Waterloo building community. As the founder of Sonnarc Homes—originally established as Sonnenberg Masonry—Martin built the company from a sole proprietorship into a trusted, family-owned builder supported by a skilled internal team and long-standing trade partners.
Martin’s career spans custom homes, renovations, and commercial and industrial projects across Ontario and North America. Having learned the trade from his father and built his career from the ground up, he brings a depth of experience that continues to shape the company’s standards and approach.
Today, as Martin steps back from day-to-day operations, he remains an active presence at Sonnarc Homes, working closely with his son and offering mentorship, perspective, and continuity as the next generation leads the business forward. A sailor at heart, Martin lives by the adage, “A ship at port is safe, but that is not what ships are for”—a mindset that reflects both his career and Sonnarc’s ongoing evolution.
